Equalities Forum

UNISON has created an Equalities Forum which is accountable to the Branch for all matters relating to the oversight and development of Equality and Diversity. 

The Branch is developing a team of Equality Activists who will work closely with this Forum and become actively involved in Equality agenda to help combat discrimination in the workplace.  If you would be interested in becoming an Equality Activist for UNISON, please contact Helen Muddock - Training, professional support and development will be provided.

UNISON Suffolk County Branch Equalities Forum - Terms of Reference

The UNISON Branch Equalities Forum will be accountable to the Branch for all Equalities oversight and development. 

It is responsible for :

• Bringing to the Branch Committee, issues of critical significance in relation to Equality and Diversity

• Communication of Equalities developments to the whole Branch Membership

• Ensuring clear linkage with the Branch Learning, Development and Communications Forum

• Delegating responsibility for reporting to the Communications Officer to a specific member of the forum

• Developing and continuously updating itself on the Equalities and Diversity agenda

• Acting as the negotiating forum for meeting the employers Equalities and Diversity agenda

• Linking to and supporting Suffolk County Council staff networks

• Developing activism around the Equalities and Diversity agenda

• Negotiating with Suffolk County Council for an Equalities Representative Agreement 

The Forum will adopt and operate within UNISON’s Working Together Guidelines and will challenge behaviour that is offensive to others.
